PDIP Chooses Pramono Anung Not Anies, Gerindra: We Respect Mrs. Mega's Decision

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party respects the decision of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri who prefers to carry her cadre, Pramono Anung, over the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan.

The Pranowo Anung-Rano Karno pair has registered with the DKI KPU as a candidate for governor and cawagub in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

"We fully respect Mrs. Mega's political stance and decision," said Muzani, Thursday, August 29.

Muzani said that the PDI-P is an independent political party. Therefore, every decision taken by the general chairman as the party's mandate to make decisions must be respected by other parties.

"And of course that (elect Pramono) is an internal matter for the PDI-P," said Muzani.

Muzani assessed that Anies had tried to be promoted by political parties to run for the Jakarta gubernatorial election. However, he said, Gerindra still respects the decision taken by PDIP.

"If we pay attention, all efforts have been made, but then it is a decision that has been decided by the PDI-P," said the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR.

Muzani considers Pramono as a figure in the world of politics. Prior to becoming the Minister of Cabinet, Pramono had served as Secretary General of the PDIP.

"And he was once the deputy chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Senayan, almost ten years as cabinet secretary, so his political reputation is perfect, very complete to also lead Jakarta," said Muzani.

Therefore, according to him, the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus which carries the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono pair should also not underestimate Pramono's candidacy.

"In our opinion, Mr. Ridwan Kamil should not take it lightly, let alone take it lightly, and we consider it the same as this a fairly balanced competition," concluded Muzani.
