JAKARTA - A member of the Brimob Police Unit Yon B Cipinang suffered burns of up to 12 percent all over his body after being doused with hard water by brawlers in the Gembrong Market area, Jalan Jend Basuki Rahmat, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

"Members of Brimob Yon B Cipinang are still undergoing intensive treatment at the ER at the Kramatjati Police Hospital, East Jakarta," said East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Nicolas Ary Lilipaly when confirmed, Thursday, August 29.

The Brimob member was injured during the disbandment of the brawl with members of the East Jakarta Metro Police.

"When security was carried out by members of the police, the perpetrators of the brawl poured hard water on the officers," he said.

After this incident, the East Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim conducted an investigation into the perpetrators of sprinkling hard water on the police.

"An examination has been carried out at the TKP, the collection of evidence, witnesses and victims has been post-mortem," he said.

Kombes Nicolas promised to take firm action in dealing with brawls that resulted in one police officer being injured by heavy rains.

"We will take firm action against the perpetrators of the brawl, which caused police officers to be injured. The perpetrators will be prosecuted," he said.

Previously, it was reported that a brawl between two groups of youths from different RWs occurred again in the Pasar Gembrong area, Prumpung area, Jalan Jend. Basuki Rahmat, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta, Thursday, August 29.

The two groups of teenagers attacked each other by shooting firecrackers and throwing stones. Not only that, the two groups also carried sharp weapons during a brawl.

According to Triyono, this brawl involved a young man from RW 01 with RW 02. This brawl also damaged public facilities and made roads impassable by motorists.

An hour later, police officers from the East Jakarta Metro Police who came to the location immediately managed to disperse the brawl between the youths between the RWs. One police officer was injured because he was doused with hard water.

"This brawl occurred during working hours and was very disturbing to residents. There were several vehicles that were hit by stones. The perpetrators were also armed with machetes and firecrackers," he told reporters, Thursday, August 29, at dawn.
