JAKARTA - The Class 1 State Detention Center (Rutan) Pondok Bambu destroyed confiscated items from searches from 4 residential blocks from the results of raids. This activity is in an effort to improve the security and order of the inmates.

Plt. Head of the Pondok Bambu Class I Detention Center, Enny Yulistiawati, said that this effort was part of a commitment to strengthen supervision and improve the quality of prisons.

"With this extermination, we hope to show seriousness in maintaining security and order in the prison environment," he said.

This extermination activity was also attended by members of the Duren Sawit Police and members of Koramil 08 Duren Sawit.

Head of the Class 1 Detention Center Security Unit (KPR) Pondok Bambu, Tian Agustiani, said that this destruction was the result of the confiscation of 4 residential blocks.

"This was confiscated from 4 residential blocks consisting of 46 rooms, but randomly not all rooms (dirazia). The destruction of confiscated goods was carried out by burning and soaking in water," Tian told VOI, Thursday, August 29.

The destruction of a number of confiscated items is part of an early detection strategy to prevent the spread of prohibited items in the detention center.

"This activity supports the implementation of three keys to advanced correctional, namely early detection of security and violation disturbances, eradication of drugs, and synergy with Law Enforcement Officials + 1 Back to Basics," he said.

The items destroyed include various types of prohibited items and objects that do not comply with the provisions.

"The results of the confiscation during the routine search for the period from January to August 2024. This destruction is expected to minimize risks and ensure that the prison environment remains safe and conducive," he said.
