Police Investigate Suicide Bomb Explosion In Makassar

JAKARTA - An explosion occurred in front of the Makassar Cathedral Church. It is suspected that the explosion came from a suicide bombing.

"Yes, that's right (suicide bombing)," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Grand Commissioner E. Zulpan, to reporters, Sunday, March 28.

Now the Kajaolalido Street, which is the address for the Makassar Cathedral Church, is closed by the police. Regarding the victim, the police could not confirm the location.

"Just got the information, we are investigating the source of the explosion," he added.

Previously circulating in the mass media, the explosion occurred not far from the Makassar Cathedral Church. The explosion occurred at around 10:28 a.m. local time. When the explosion occurred, a number of church congregants were said to be worshiping at the church.

There were pieces of a human body, at the scene. In addition, a number of injured victims were evacuated and rushed to hospital.
