The robbers gang took 21 laptops and 77 cellphones belonging to a pawnshop customer in Medan.

MEDAN - Police have arrested 5 thieves at the Pegadaian office in Medan, North Sumatra. The robber's gang took 21 laptops and 77 cellphones belonging to the pawnshop customer.

The five perpetrators were Hari Fahrizal (38), Romiansyah (34), Riki (25), Irwansyah (40), a resident of Medan Perjuangan and M Irfan (38), a resident of Marendal.

East Medan Police Chief, Police Commissioner Muhammad Arifin said the theft occurred on Saturday, March 20 at the PT Budi Gadai office, Jalan HM Yamin, Medan. The theft was initially discovered by an employee of PT Budi Gadai Indonesia.

"At that time, an employee named Awi saw that the office door was already open with the door hinge and padlock broken. Then Awi entered the second floor and saw the door hinge was broken", said Arifin, Friday, March 26.

Furthermore, said Arifin, Awi went to the storage area for the customer's pawn item on the second floor.

Finding the customer's missing items, PT Budi Gadai then reported the incident to the East Medan Police.

"From the theft, the victim lost 1 unit of CCTV DVR and HDD with an estimated price of IDR 7 million, 77 units of Android cellphones and iPhones with an estimated price of IDR 96 million. Then 21 laptops of various brands were stolen with a loss of more than IDR 39 million with a total loss of IDR 144 million more", he explained.

From the reports received, the police carried out the crime scene (TKP) as well as an investigation.

"On the evening of Thursday, March 25th, officers arrested the perpetrator Muhammad Irfan with evidence of 3 cellphones. He played a role as looking for stolen buyers in the form of cellphones and laptops at the request of the perpetrator, Hari Fahrizal", continued Kompol Arifin.

Subsequently, officers gave chase and made arrests of the suspects Irwansyah and Romisyah on Friday 26 March. From the hands of the two, the police secured evidence of 2 cellphones.

"Then the suspect pursued and arrested Hari Fahrizal on Friday morning with evidence of 1 unit of the motorbike of the Mio GT type and 1 unit of stolen cellphone", said Kompol Arifin.

The officers then arrested the suspect, Riki, who was responsible for receiving 6 units of cellphones worth IDR 3 million.
