The Constitutional Court's Decision Was Disallowed By The DPR, PDIP Will Still Register The Jakarta Cagub-Cawagub To The KPU

PDIP will continue to register the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor candidate for the Jakarta Pilkada to the General Election Commission (KPU) on 27 August.

The registration of cagub from PDIP is still being carried out even though the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which changes the threshold for candidacy in the Pilkada is annulled by the DPR in a meeting of the Legislation Body which was held today.

Member of the DPR Baleg from the PDIP faction, Masinton Pasaribu, said that his party did not agree with the DPR Baleg and did not agree that the draft Pilkada Bill would be brought to the plenary meeting tomorrow.

"Essentially, the PDI-P does not agree with the discussion at Baleg earlier," said Masinton, Wednesday, August 21.

According to Masinton, the decision of the Constitutional Court number 60 of 2024 is clear to provide space for political parties who do not get seats, or who get seats in the DPRD.

Therefore, the Jakarta electoral district legislator stated that PDIP would continue to register the Jakarta cagub and cawagub to the KPU even without a coalition with other political parties. The reason is, the PDIP vote acquisition has met the nomination requirements when referring to the latest Constitutional Court decision.

"Yes, previously the requirements were 20 percent of seats and or 25 percent of the votes, now they have been lowered based on the number of DPT. So what does that mean? If anyone wants to use a candidate who uses the rules of the Constitutional Court, just use the list to the KPU on 27 later," said Masinton.

"Don't want to follow the amended rules for the benefit of the rulers today," he added.

Masinton agrees that PDIP will carry Anies Baswedan in the Jakarta Pilkada in pairs with a cadre of the bull party.

"God willing, there will be Anies," he concluded.
