As A Result Of Drone Attacks, Russia's Zaporizhya Nuclear Power Plant Security Status Worsens

The security situation around the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (PLTN) has deteriorated after a drone strike on Saturday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said. "The nuclear safety situation at the Zaporizhya Nuclear Power Plant (PLTN) in Ukraine worsened after a drone strike that hit the road around the perimeter of the plant site today," the IAEA said in a statement, citing the head of the agency, Rafael Grossi. There were no casualties as a result of the attack and PLTN Zaporizhya equipment was not affected, however, the road between the two main generating gates was damaged, the contents of the statement said. Grossion has asked the parties involved to exercise restraint.

"We are again seeing an increase in the danger of nuclear safety and security facing the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant," Grossi said. "I remain very concerned and repeat my call for maximum self-isolation from all parties and for strict observation of the five concrete principles set out for generating protection," Grossi said as quoted by the IAEA.
