JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo led the ceremony to lower the Red and White flag in the framework of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day at the State Palace of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN), Saturday, August 17, 2024.

President Jokowi accompanied by First Lady, Iriana Jokowi, arrived at around 15.45 WIB. Jokowi is seen wearing traditional Banjar clothing from South Kalimantan. The traditional Banjar shirt used is called Baamar Galung Pancar Matahari. Traditional clothes are usually worn for social events, traditional events, or cultural festivals.

President Jokowi chose traditional Banjar clothing to convey an in-depth message at a historic moment that marked the first time a state ceremony was held at IKN.

President Jokowi appeared in full traditional clothes made of make-up cloth that reflected luxury.

From head to toe, all elements of this clothing are beaded and decorated with dragon symbols, which in Banjar culture symbolize power, goodness, and luck.
