Puan Participates In The RI Anniversary Ceremony At IKN, Gets A Special Task Of Reading The Proclamation Text

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, attended the 79th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony in the capital city of Nusantara, Kalimantan. Later, Puan will be lined up to be a reader of the text of the Proclamation.

"God willing (going to IKN)," said Puan in response to reporters' questions after chairing the Plenary Meeting for the first trial of 2024-2025 DPR, Friday, August 16 afternoon. Puan left for IKN tonight, and will stay at the Ministerial Position Tax House (RTJM) which has now been completed.

Based on information, all leaders of state institutions will stay at RTJM as a preparation for the ceremony in the morning. And just like 2021, Puan was asked to read the text of the proclamation at the commemoration ceremony of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day.

When asked by reporters whether the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri will be present at IKN tomorrow, Puan stated that the PDI-P (PDIP) chairman already has another agenda.

"There is an event in Lenteng Agung with a party structure," explained the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Today, Puan herself chaired the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD which is the parliament's annual agenda. Puan also chaired the Plenary Meeting for the first trial of 2024-2025 of the DPR where on the agenda, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed the Introductory to the Draft Law (RUU) on the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for Fiscal Year 2025 along with its Financial Note.

At the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD, Puan welcomed the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia by emphasizing the importance of working together with all elements of the nation for the advancement of Indonesia.

"Tomorrow, August 17, 2024, is 79 years of Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia; 79 years we are becoming Indonesia. Being Indonesia, means that we are determined and working to have a nation and a country with Indonesian character," said Puan, this morning.

"It has been 79 years, our nation and country have built. Building in various fields: politics, hankam, social, economic, cultural, religious, human rights, the environment, and so on," continued the first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI.

Puan assessed that the Indonesian nation and people should be grateful for the efforts of every government to develop the country and overcome the challenges of its time. He also expressed his gratitude to President Jokowi for leading Indonesia in 2 leadership periods.

"Thank you, we also convey to President Ir. H. Joko Widodo and Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin, who will soon end his tenure, for his efforts and work for 10 years, in building Indonesia," said Puan.
