Tarakan Police Reveals Online Togel Gambling

TARAKAN - Tarakan City Resort Police (Polres), North Kalimantan (Kaltara) uncovered a lottery gambling practice on Jalan Yos Sudarso RT. 03 Sebengkok Village, Central Tarakan District.

Tarakan Police Chief, AKBP Adi Saptia Sudirna said the disclosure of this case stems from public reports that are restless because these locations are often used as lottery gambling transactions.

"Then the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Port Area Police together with his staff went to the location and found that the perpetrator was transacting lottery-number gambling," said the Police Chief, Thursday, August 15.

"From the disclosure of this case, the Tarakan Police managed to secure two perpetrators with the initials IW and IY. Then, the perpetrators were taken to the Tarakan Police Station for questioning," he continued.

He explained that the results of the investigation of the perpetrators admitted to running this illicit business since January 2024, with the profits obtained from January to now reaching Rp 65,740,000.

"The perpetrator RY acts as the boss while IW is an accomplice whose job is to find customers, currently the police are hunting down two other perpetrators who are known to act as accomplices to the perpetrator RY," he explained.

The police chief revealed that the majority of its customers came from the elderly who installed lottery numbers through online sites. As for the lottery numbers that are traded, namely Hong Kong, Cambodia, Sydney, China, Singapore, and Taiwan types of lottery.

"The evidence that was secured was in the form of cash amounting to Rp. 3,433,000. Then three lottery notes and 1 ATM card and BRI Bank savings book. As well as one unit of Samsung A05 and Redmi Note 10S," he said.

The two perpetrators are suspected of Article 303 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code or 303 paragraphs 1 to 2 of the Criminal Code with the threat of 10 years in prison.
