BMKG Asks To Beware Of Forest And Land Fires In Several Areas During The Dry Season

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned of the potential for land and forest fires in a number of areas in the country.

This condition is due to the potential level of ease of fire in the upper layers of the ground surface in the category of very flammable. BMKG forecaster Raeni Chindi stated that he was vigilant in the southern part of Sumatra, Java, and Bali.

Also, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, southern Kalimantan, Gorontalo, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, southeastern Maluku, and a small part of South Papua.

"Be alert when burning garbage or land, and not throwing cigarette butts in any place to avoid land and forest fires," said Raeni.

BMKG also predicts air temperatures this Thursday range from 16 degrees Celsius to 34 degrees Celsius. While the humidity is between 27% and 99%.

"The wave level in Indonesian waters on average ranges from 0.5 to 2.5 meters," said Raeni.

However, there are several areas where the wave height can reach 2.5 meters to 4 meters, namely in the western Indian Ocean, the southern Indian Ocean, and the southern waters of Sumbawa Island.

Meanwhile, wind speeds above 25 knots were observed in the southwest Indian Ocean of Banten to the southwest of Lampung which was able to increase wave heights in the region.
