DENPASAR - Bali Regional Secretary (Sekda) Dewa Made Indra responded to President Jokowi's remarks highlighting the existence of a large budget district with an unclear program but it is used to distribute grants for political purposes.

"Yang bagi hibah, ya kan dia menyatakan ada daerah kabupaten yang punya anggaran besar kemudian bagi-bagi hibah, kita tidak tahu siapa yang dimaksud," kata Made Indra di Denpasar, Rabu, 14 Agustus.

"Not only in Bali, there are districts that have a large income, there are also many areas outside Bali," he continued, quoted by ANTARA.

This was conveyed in response to the circulation of a snippet of satire from President Jokowi when giving directions at IKN, Tuesday (13/8) which was allegedly intended for Badung Regency because so far it has often poured out budgets for grants.

During the meeting, President Jokowi advised the governor to direct programs in the regions in line with the central government.

Moreover, so that the planned programs can have an impact on the community, as well as encourage cooperation between regions, such as for example the waste problem can be resolved by several regions so that it is mitigating.

The Bali Regional Secretary considers the president's message to be observed, but it is better not to look into the district in question.

"We don't need to look for which area is meant, what is more important is the spirit of his message that we interpret, meaning that if there are regencies/cities that have a large income, let's use it as much as possible for development that can really advance the region," he said.

According to him, districts that have a large budget should be used to encourage economic growth, raise the level of people's lives, and provide good public services.
