11-Year-Old Boy Stabbing At Leicester Square London Charged With Attempted Murder

JAKARTA - The London Police said a man who stabbed a child with a sharp weapon at Leicester Square two weeks after a stabbing in the British city of Southport had been charged with attempted murder.

"A man has been charged after stabbing an 11-year-old girl," said a police statement quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik, Tuesday, August 13.

The 32-year-old man who was arrested was also charged with possession of a sharp weapon.

Law enforcement officials on Monday said an 11-year-old woman and daughter had been taken to hospital.

The girl was seriously injured but did not threaten, while the mother was not injured.

The incident came two weeks after a stabbing in Southport, in which a 17-year-old boy attacked a child with a knife.

The attackers were later arrested and charged, sparking protests that escalated to chaos with police amid rumors the suspect was an asylum seeker.
