President Jokowi Leads The First Plenary Session At The Garuda IKN Palace

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo chaired the inaugural plenary session with the ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet at the Garuda Palace, the capital city of Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

Before starting the trial, the event began with reading a prayer together led by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

President Jokowi then gave his opening remarks about the first time a plenary session was held in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

"This morning we can hold a special plenary session because it was held for the first time in the capital city of the archipelago," said President Jokowi in the Garuda Palace courtroom as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 12.

In his remarks, President Jokowi emphasized that IKN is the canvas that carves out the future.

According to the President, not everyone, not all countries have the opportunity and have the ability to build their capital which starts completely from scratch.

"Nusantara is built with a forest city, a city full of greenness, not a concrete city or not a glass city. Also a smart city, a city that is supported by technology in every city activity and also alivable city, a city that is comfortable to live in," said the President.

The President also said that the air was cool and fresh at IKN on Monday morning because the low air quality index was at 6.

In fact, many of the state capitals in the world's air quality indexes are above 50.

The President reiterated that the move of the capital city to the archipelago was not just a physical transfer, but a change in mindset, a change in work patterns, and a change in mobility.

"Because all of the mobility in the capital city of Nusantara uses electric vehicles and also the energy uses green energy, the buildings here are also all directed to green building and accessibility is also prioritized for pedestrians and those riding bicycles," said the President.
