Newly Inaugurated By National Police Chief Listyo, E-TLE Helps Police Reveal The Identity Of Hit-and-Run Perpetrators In Kelapa Gading

JAKARTA - The identity of the hit-and-run perpetrator of a 7-year-old boy in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta was revealed thanks to the CCTV and e-TLE cameras installed around the scene.

This was conveyed by the Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Wednesday, March 24.

"After analyzing the CCTV, including analyzing by Puslabfor to make it clear, it is known that the vehicle involved is the number plate B 2388 RFQ," said Sambodo.

Sambodo said, obtaining data on the car used by the suspect was not an easy matter. Because, not many witnesses saw it. The majority of witnesses only said that the car that hit the victim was black.

"Why was it said that it was difficult? Because of the 5 witnesses who were questioned, none of them saw and stated with certainty how many police numbers the vehicle hit, only most said they saw a black mercy sedan," said Sambodo.

So, investigators from the Gakkum Sub-Directorate for the National Police decided to trace the CCTV and e-TLE cameras. Although at first it seemed futile because the vehicle's police number was not clearly recorded. Until finally, investigators found that the vehicle's police number was B 2388. So, it was confiscated by the existing data base.

Based on available data, the police came to the address listed. The results of the analysis were proven. Because, at that house parked a black Mercy car which was in a state of disrepair.

"After we visited the crime scene (the perpetrator's house) we found Mercy with a broken glass and no mirrors. It means that it is certain that the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was involved," said Sambodo.

Previously, the police arrested a man with the initials MRK (21) who was the perpetrator of a child hit and run in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta. In fact, the police have named him a suspect.

"The initials of the suspect are MRK (21), male, a student who we have now named as a suspect," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus.

The hit-and-run incident in Kelapa Gading took place on Sunday, March 21, at around 06.17 WIB. The victim of a hit and run is a 7 year old child. The victim was running in the morning with his parents. Arriving at the scene, suddenly the victim was hit by a black sedan. However, the car immediately ran away.

At a glance, the electronic traffic ticket or electronic traffic law enforcement (e-TLE) was inaugurated on Tuesday, March 23, by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The application of e-TLE aims to increase public awareness of driving as well as abuse of authority of members of the National Police.
