A happy woman wearing Kebaya gets a fish when participating in a race ahead of Indonesia's 79th anniversary at Halim

JAKARTA - Jakarta residents have started to arrange various competition activities ahead of the celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) in their respective regions.

The competition will be attended by children, teenagers, adults and parents.

Each race will also be followed by women and men.

As seen in the Halim Perdana Kusuma residential area, Makasar District, East Jakarta on Sunday, August 10.

A number of women returned to participate in the red and white fishing competition at a large pond fishing puspita which contains mujair fish.

"Just participated in this (fishing competition) once. The August 17 competition was to enliven, participate from women," said Tuti, one of the participants in the competition to reporters.

The woman, who took part in the fish fishing competition for the first time, turned out to be addicted because she had received 2 fish from her fishing hook.

"It turns out that fishing is also fishing. This is the first time, but I don't know if I got two fish. The main point is," he said.

They looked very enthusiastic and excited when their fishing hooks managed to get fish. But not infrequently the female participants were scared and confused when they were about to pull the hook which was eaten by fish.

The chairman of the fish fishing competition committee, Diana Murni, said that the competition activity to welcome the 79th Indonesian Independence Day was very different from other regions.

He admitted that he first held a competition in August to encourage women.

"The selection of this competition is because it is fishing to train the scarcity and patience of women," Diana told reporters.

Even what is interesting in this activity is that female participants fish using red and white kebaya. However, there are also those who wear jeans with kebaya tops. They mention it to be more modern.

Winners will get cash prizes and some entertainment prizes as well as certificates.
