KLHK Seals 15 Hectares Of HPK Land In Burned Karya Indah Riau Village

The Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) directly sealed an area of about 15 hectares of burned land in the Conversion Production Forest (HPK) in Karya Indah Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The Director General of Gakkum KLHK, Rasio Ridho Sani, stated that his party had sealed the location of forest and land fires in coordination with the relevant agencies. "The sealing is carried out as a follow-up to the results of hotspot monitoring obtained from the Gakkum KLHK'Intelligence center'. This sealing is the first step in law enforcement that will be taken against forest and land fires cases," said Rasio in a statement received in Pekanbaru, Antara, Sunday, August 4. The KLHK Gakkum team at that time also coordinated the control of forest and land fires in Riau which was attended by the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base Headquarters, BMKG, the Sumatra Region Climate Change Control Center, and the Riau Province Regional Disaster Management Agency. In his direction, Rasio emphasized the importance of law enforcement efforts in forest and land fires cases. “ Control of forest and land fires in Riau Province is a very strategic effort to prevent cross-border smog from occurring which can have a bad impact and harm to many parties," he said. According to him, strict law enforcement against forest and land fire actors is very important to provide a deterrent effect and prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future. "We will not hesitate to impose sanctions on corporations or communities that are proven to be involved in forest and land fires," said Rasio. Until now, he explained, the number of hot spots in Riau Province is 198 points. Meanwhile, the total area of burned land has been handled by 1,991.36 hectares during 2024.

Throughout 2024, Gakkum KLHK has sealed 7 forest and land fires locations in various parts of Indonesia. The locations sealed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry are in the Conversion Production Forest (HPK) in Karya Indah Village, Riau Province, PT PCM in South Sumatra Province, PT IWRMD in Lampung Province, and 4 locations are in West Kalimantan Province (PT AAN, PT CTB, PT CMI, and 1 location is in Tapang Village Palm Oil Plantation, Sekadau Regency.
