KemenPPPA: Human Resources Capacity Places For Child Care Must Be Acquired

JAKARTA - Deputy for Child Special Protection of the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Nahar said that child care facilities must have human resources with adequate capacity and problem solving mechanisms in the event of inappropriate practices.

"The settlement is not only administratively but also legally. Actions must be taken immediately, both in the legal process, and in the impact on children," said Nahar, quoted from Antara, Saturday, August 3.

He said, every child care facility must have an operational permit from the authorized institution to ensure that the activities carried out are in accordance with the objectives and functions of these service institutions.

Registered child care centers will receive guidance and supervision as well as guidance on the implementation of tasks.

"Although registered, it is possible that there are people who do not carry out their duties according to the guidelines. If there is a criminal element, it must be reported and processed further because the victim is a child. Parents are entitled to make a police report if there is evidence that leads to a criminal element to ensure that the case is investigated and the perpetrator gets sanctions in accordance with the Child Protection Act," said Nahar.

Recently, there was a case of violence against toddlers in a daycare, Depok, West Java, which was carried out by the daycare owner.

He said, in an effort to handle and assist victims, the Ministry of PPPA had coordinated with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) Depok City, and the Depok City Police to ensure victims get their rights, including physical and psychological recovery.

"An examination of the child's physical and psychological condition is needed to determine further intervention," said Nahar.
