JAKARTA - The Online Gambling Eradication Task Force (Satgas) confirmed that it would not summon BP2MI Head Benny Rhamdani regarding a figure with the initials 'T' suspected of controlling the online gambling practice in Indonesia from Cambodia.

Previously, the figure of 'T' was also said to be involved in online fraudulent practices or scamming.

"No need, no need," said Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi after holding a meeting of the 2024 SDI Steering Committee with the title "Accelerated Digital Transformation Through One Indonesian Data" at the PANRB Ministry Office, Jakarta, Tuesday 30 July, confiscated by Antara.

He admitted that he had not coordinated with Benny regarding the person with the initials 'T'. He also did not know about this figure.

In addition, according to Budi Arie, online gambling problems must be consistently eradicated by not speculating much.

"No, it's a matter of information that we don't want speculation," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani at the inauguration of Kawan Pekerja Migran Indonesia for the North Sumatra Region in Medan, North Sumatra, Tuesday, July 23, had mentioned a figure with the initials 'T' as the controlling actor of online gambling practices in Indonesia from Cambodia and the practice of online fraud.

Through the BP2MI RI YouTube account, Benny on that occasion said that the existence of the actor with the initials 'T' had been conveyed in a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace, in front of President Joko Widodo, the TNI Commander, the National Police Chief, and a number of ministers some time ago.

"Actually, it is very easy to catch who the actor behind the online business in Cambodia and the actor behind the scamming online. I just need to mention his initials 'T' at the forefront. And I call this in front of the President. Mr. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mr. Mahfud Md. at that time," he said.

According to Benny, at that time President Jokowi and National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit were surprised to hear the name and the limited meeting became a bit excited.

"This person is a person who during this republic's existence may not be touched by law," said Benny.
