Anticipate Corruption, KPK: Determination Of Positions Must Be Based On Integrity, Not "Cash Fill"

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said public officials should not only have intellectual abilities. Integrity must be one of the things that is considered so that the government can be free from corrupt practices.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, who was present as a speaker for the 2024 LXVI Regular Education Program (PPSA) for the Indonesian National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) in Jakarta, Monday, July 29.

"It is hoped that through today's material we can understand and realize that corruption has no advantage. This starts from the recruitment of positions, fathers or mothers in their respective institutions," said Ghufron, quoted from the KPK's official statement, Tuesday, July 30.

"Determination of positions must be based on capacity, intellectuality, and experience. Then the most important thing is also integrity, not the contents of the bag," he continued in front of 99 participants present.

Ghufron said that public officials are vulnerable to being entangled in corruption in exercising their authority, one of which is a conflict of interest. Thus, the head of the agency must have an anti-corruption commitment.

"Show ownership of the anti-corruption program and the leadership's responsibility and clearly voice no leadership and clearly voice zero tolerance for corruption," he said.

Furthermore, Lemhanas also advised that educational programs such as Lemhanas must insert material about eradicating corruption. Thus, the benefits of future policies can be felt by the community.

"Ladies and gentlemen are the determinants of the future. I hope that the policies that will be made can realize prosperity and justice for the people," said Ghufron.

"I hope that all of you who attend will be part of the efforts to eradicate corruption," he concluded.
