Residents Arrest Charity Box Thief At Restaurant In Sawah Besar Area

JAKARTA - A middle-aged man was arrested by residents for stealing money from a charity box located in a restaurant on Jalan A, Karang Anyar, Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta, Saturday afternoon, July 27.

The perpetrator looked panicked when his actions were caught by residents. The perpetrator's actions were initially known by a man who is an employee of the burning chicken restaurant.

The perpetrator came alone, then he sat near the box containing charity money. But the perpetrator just sat without ordering food.

Because he was suspicious of the perpetrator's behavior, the employee of the restaurant finally observed the perpetrator's movements.

After the situation was deemed safe enough, the perpetrator then took the charity box and put it in the bag he was carrying. Then the perpetrator tried to leave the location.

However, the perpetrator's efforts failed, because he was chased by employees at the restaurant and finally managed to catch the perpetrator not far from the scene. When searched, residents found a charity box from inside the perpetrator's bag.

"He just came to sit down, it turned out that the charity box was taken. He entered and immediately took the charity box," said the employee.

The perpetrator also received several punches from residents who were upset by the perpetrator's actions. The perpetrator was then taken to the Sawah Besar Police along with evidence of the stolen charity box.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sawah Besar Police, AKP Sholeh, said that his party had not yet received a report regarding the arrest of the perpetrator of the theft of the charity box.

"I'll check first," he said briefly when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, July 28.
