TIMIKA - The SAR team together with the Indonesian Navy were deployed to search for the Cita XX landing ship (LCT) which lost contact around Asmat waters.
The ship with 12 crew members carried materials for the construction of BTS in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains. However, while in Asmat waters, the ship lost contact.
Head of the Timika Search and Rescue Office I Wayan Suyatna said the ship with the Junaidi captain reportedly departed from Timika on Monday, July 15 and was scheduled to arrive in Lokpon, Yahukimo Regency, Thursday, July 18. However, until now the ship has never arrived.
On Friday, July 19, his party received a report regarding a ship loaded with BTS carrying 12 crew members who lost contact on their way from Timika to Lokpon, Yahukimo Regency.
The search was then carried out, including deploying the Yapero Marine Security Patrol ship belonging to the Indonesian Navy by conducting a search into the middle of the sea.
"Meanwhile, a team from Asmat using RIB Basarnas conducted a sweep of shallow water areas," said Wayan Suyatna in a written statement, Antara, Monday, July 22.
He added that the names of the LCT Cita XX crew members who were headed by Junaidi, namely Dedi Irawan (mualim), M Arif Efendi, Haikal, Rusli, Agiera, Nimrot, Lukman Hakim, Samsudin, Asmoro, Suherman and Alhakim.
"Until now there has been no sign of the ship's whereabouts, so the search will continue on Tuesday, July 23," Wayan added.
