Padi Reborn Will Celebrate 'Meratus Geopark Great Culture Carnival 2024'

JAKARTA - Raising the theme 'Ungkap Dengan Sasirangan', The Meratus Geopark Management Agency presents the Great Culture Carnival (MGGCC) Meratus Meratus Meratus event on August 20-21, 2024.

This grand event as a collaborative vehicle will involve various entities to present and echo the wealth of geological, biological and cultural heritage values of the Meratus Geopark on the 74th anniversary of South Kalimantan Province. The cultural arts variety of the Banjar and Dayak tribes will amaze many eyes. In this series of events, a record breakthrough will also be held with the longest range of Sasirangan, which is with a span of 5.7 km.

"This muri record breaking is an initiation of the Chairman of the South Kalimantan Provincial Dekranasda, Mrs. Hj. Raudatul Jannah S.KM., M.Kes, and is a form of appreciation and exposure for collaboration in the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Meratus Geopark, namely the Sasirangan Cloth which has obtained recognition of the Geographical Rights of South Kalimantan from the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights on June 7, 2024," said Hanifah Dwi Nirwana as the Daily Chair of the Meratus Geopark Management Agency, in his statement, Thursday 18 July.

The sasirangan cloth will later be stretched to the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Office Area in Banjarbaru and will form a formation of Kelangan dandang or Layang-layang dandang, a traditional game of the Banjar community which is still being played and is often carried out in the form of activities in the Dandang Festival event.

In this series of Geopark Meratus Great Culture Carnival (MGGCC) events, expos will also be held which will be filled by various elements of society as well as SKPD in the Regional Government of South Kalimantan Province. In this expo, there will be various kinds of MSME products produced by Expo participants, such as geopark partners who present their geoproducts, as well as culinary booths with traditional cooking products from the people of Banjar and Dayak.

In addition, Booth-booth sponsorship will also be present to present superior products from their fostered MSMEs. And to strengthen the echo exposure for geopark management to the wider community, MGGCC will also showcase the implementation of geopark wealth management in the fields of conservation, education and economic development of local communities, through geoproducts and geotourism owned from geoparks in Indonesia and has entered the UNESCO Global Geopark network.

"We hope that with the implementation of expo in this series of Geopark Great Culture Carnival Meratus, we can support inclusive and sustainable economic development through the development of a sustainable creative economy and tourism. We introduce more massive products produced by Banua MSMEs and can be an initial milestone in making Banua MSMEs to advance to class," added Hanifah Dwi Nirvana, who is also the chief executive of the Great Culture Carnival Geopark Meratus.

To add to the vibrant series of events, in this event there will also be various kinds of competitions such as after- Movie event competitions, coloring children and other interesting competitions. And towards the peak of the treats, at the close of this event will present a spectacular Kolosal Dance as well as the performance of the National Legend Band, Padi Reborn. The National band fronted by Fadly, Piyu, Rindra, Yoyo and Arie will present their hits which are packaged in the concept of a Futuristic Traditional Stage concept.

What is no less interesting in the Meratus Geopark Great Culture Carnival 2024 performance will also be presented with fireworks as a cover for the entire series of events.

"We hope that this event can be an annual event awaited by the people of South Kalimantan, as well as events that are able to attract outsiders to come to South Kalimantan," added Hanifah Dwi Nirwana closing the discussion on the Meratus Geopark Great Culture Carnival 2024.
