DKI Pemprov Will Open 100 Schools For Face-to-Face Learning Trials, Deputy Governor Riza: The Place Is Still Being Wanted

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is conducting a study on the opening of schools and other educational institutions. This was done after the central government allowed it.

Ahmad Riza Patria said that the DKI Education Agency plans to open a number of pilot schools for face-to-face learning trials.

"We are looking for which schools might serve as pilot projects, face-to-face places for piloting. It could be 50 schools, 100 schools, we will see later," said Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Friday, March 19 evening.

However, plans to open schools are also still being studied, while waiting for the new school year in July. Riza said, the DKI Provincial Government is still listening to input from health, education experts, to the central COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

Meanwhile, the configuration of school opening being tested will represent each level of education, from elementary to high school level. The regulations are still being discussed, with the provision of implementing health protocols.

"Of course with strict conditions in accordance with health protocols. The limit will also be 50 percent. Later it will get approval from all parties, including parents," said Riza.

Previously, Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC PEN) Airlangga Hartarto said face-to-face teaching and learning activities were allowed in the application of the latest Micro Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Enforcement.

"There have been several changes related to teaching and learning activities, here they can begin to be implemented face-to-face for universities, the academy is opened in stages with pilot projects based on local regulations and with health protocols," said Airlangga.

Furthermore, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy said face-to-face teaching and learning activities would be accompanied by vaccinations for teachers and lecturers.

Meanwhile, said the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga, for high school education levels equivalent to below, they still implement teaching and learning activities from home or online.

Apart from allowing teaching and learning activities, said Airlangga, cultural arts activities are also permitted in the latest micro PPKM. However, with a maximum capacity of 25 percent.
