TNI Shoot Dead 3 OPM Members In Puncak Jaya-Papua

Kapendam XVII Lieutenant Colonel Inf Chandra Kurniawan said TNI members shot three suspected OPM members who always terrorized the Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua, and were shot to death.

"It is true, members of the Battalion Task Force RK 753/AVT, Tuesday (16/7) night at around 19:45 WIT took action by shooting the alleged OPM member led by Teranus Enumbi," said Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Lt. Col. Inf Chandra Kurniawan as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 17.

Currently, the bodies of the three suspected OPM members are still at Mulia Hospital, the capital of Puncak Jaya Regency.

"The incident began with the alleged existence of the OPM leader Teranus Enumbi along with several members who entered residential areas in Karubate village, Muara District with firearms," he said.

With this allegation, the RK 753/AVT Infantry Battalion Task Force responded by taking action against the OPM gang.

When he was about to be arrested, OPM members fought back by firing a shot at the soldiers so that he was replied to paralyze them.

The three suspected OPMs who died were SW (33), YW (41), DW (36) and at the TKP also found one homemade firearm and the Morning Star flag.

"The leader of the OPM Teranus Enumbi managed to escape," said Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Lt. Col. Inf Chandra regarding Teranus Enumbi who was one of the OPM leaders who was included in the police DPO related to the attack on the security forces in 2018.

The violent acts involving Terinus Enumbi were recorded on March 19 attacking, shooting and slashing two soldiers, Sertu Ismunandar and Serka Salim.

Furthermore, on May 30 attacked and shot the motorcycle taxi driver Jainul (44), on May 31 attacked and shot civilians Prasetyo (33), and on June 19, attacked and shot motorcycle taxi driver Husen (39).
