JAKARTA - The Resort Police (Polres) of Sorong, Southwest Papua is investigating the case of the death of its member with the initials RN, who is an aide to the Deputy Chief of the Sorong Police by examining witnesses and waiting for the results of the post-mortem.

The Sorong Police Chief, AKBP Edwin Parsaoran, explained that his party was conducting an examination of witnesses, including neighbors who were in the area where the incident occurred to determine the truth of the motive for RN's death.

"We are still investigating RN's motive for death by asking witnesses for statements and waiting for the results of the post-mortem," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 16.

He believed that there were no traces of violence in RN's body, so it was confirmed that the case of death was pure suicide.

RN was found dead by his biological brother on Monday (15/7/2024) at 17.30 WIT at the residence of the Deputy Chief of Police of Sorong.

"The incident was first discovered by RN's brother, who was suspicious because he had been repeatedly called but did not pick him up," he explained.

Then driven by suspicion, finally RN's younger brother came to the residence of the Deputy Chief of Police of Sorong and saw the RN motorbike alive.

He then knocked repeatedly at every door which was locked but there was no sound sign from inside the house. It is strongly suspected that the door was deliberately locked by RN so that no one entered the house.

"After successfully entering, RN was dead with a rope wrapped around the victim's neck," he explained.

RN's body was finally taken to the Sele Be Solu Hospital, Klawalu Village, East Sorong District, Sorong City, Southwest Papua at around 18.00 WIT, for a post-mortem.
