DPR Asks The TNI To Enforce The Law In The Case Of Soldiers Shooting Scavengers And Burning Journalists' Houses

JAKARTA - Commission I of the DPR urges the TNI to enforce the law on the case of soldiers shooting scavengers in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The DPR also asked the TNI to investigate the case of burning a journalist's house in North Sumatra because it was suspected that TNI personnel were involved.

"For the case in Palu, the law must be enforced. Pangkoops AU must have the courage to investigate until it takes the perpetrator concerned to a military court," said Member of Commission I DPR, TB Hasanuddin, Monday, July 15.

This shooting case occurred at the TNI AU official residence complex on Dewi Sartika Street, South Palu District, last Thursday, July 11. A scavenger named Jenri was shot with an air rifle by unscrupulous Indonesian Air Force personnel when he was caught by jumping a fence into the area of the official residence.

Currently, the Indonesian Air Force personnel who shot the scavengers have been detained and are being processed at Hasanuddin Air Base. Meanwhile, the scavengers who were shot began to improve.

TB Hasanuddin assessed that this shooting incident was a serious violation of the law and could not be justified for any reason.

"Moreover, the victim did not take any dangerous or threatening actions," said the legislator from the West Java IX electoral district.

Commission I of the DPR believes that the Indonesian Air Force will carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into this incident.

The perpetrators of the shooting must be dealt with firmly. Strict action is needed to uphold justice and prevent a repeat of similar events in the future. And hopefully the victim can recover soon," said TB Hasanuddin.

Furthermore, TB Hasanuddin also highlighted the case of burning a journalist's house in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, named Perfect Pasaribu. As a result of the arson, the victim and his family were burned to death.

Regarding this case, the victim's child reported to the Indonesian Army Puspom by bringing a number of evidences because he suspected that there were indications of TNI personnel involvement in the case. TB Hasanuddin asked the Indonesian Army POM to thoroughly investigate the report.

"Although there are new indications, they have been reported to the TNI POM, our TNI POM asks us to actively investigate investigations and investigations," said the retired three-star general of the Indonesian Army.

The police have arrested 3 perpetrators of the burning of the Perfect Pasaribu house, but the motive for the arson is still being investigated. Therefore, POM TNI AD was asked to be proactive by participating in investigating the victim's child reporting.

"If it is proven that a member of the TNI has committed the crime, then immediately try it in court openly," said TB Hasanuddin.

These two cases are also considered to be lessons for all. Commission I also asked for the participation of the community to help supervise TNI personnel.

"In these two cases, the DPR hopes that the community will help supervise all TNI soldiers in the field, and do not hesitate to report to the local authorities if there are things that are deemed detrimental to the community," said TB Hasanuddin at the same time ending.
