BMKG Calls The Peak Of Kemarau In Central Java And Around Its Cold Temperatures

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Class II Meteorological Station Ahmad Yani Semarang explained that the peak of the dry season, especially in Central Java (Central Java), was marked by cold temperatures.

"In the last few days, cold temperatures can be found for the Central Java region, especially in the evening until early morning, early morning," said BMKG forecaster Ahmad Yani Semarang Noor Jannah Indriyani in Semarang, Monday, July 15, as reported by Antara.

According to him, this phenomenon is normal because when entering the peak of the dry season, the initial cover is relatively small so that the emitted Earth radiation has no obstacles or barriers.

"At night where Earth's radiation is emitted there are no obstacles or barriers so that the earth emits heat faster, and for temperatures around the Earth's surface it can be cooler than usual," he said.

He predicts that the peak of the dry season in the Central Java region will occur in August-September 2024 with the phenomenon of varying cold temperatures in each region, depending on the contour.

For the lowest temperatures, he said, it occurred in mountainous areas, such as Dieng, Wonosobo, and its surroundings which were possible to reach zero degrees Celsius, as evidenced by the discovery of upas dew.

"For the Semarang City area, we predict (the lowest temperature) will be around 21-22 degrees Celsius. Normally, it is not cold at around 24-25 degrees Celsius," he said.

Entering the peak of the dry season, he said, it is possible that the cold temperature phenomenon, especially at night, will continue to occur and become more frequent in August-September 2024 for the Central Java region in general.

Although it is still the dry season as it is today, he said, it is also possible to experience sudden rain, but only local as a normal phenomenon.

"Untuk hujan, terutama yang bersifat lokal dan wilayah-kawasan yang bertopis tinggi, seperti di gunungan itu masih akan sangat mungkin juga juga terjadi," tandasnya.
