Regarding The Nomination Of The BPK Leadership, PB PMII: Better Not From The Elements Of Politicians

The process of nominating the leadership of the Indonesian financial regulatory body (BPK) has attracted the attention of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PB PMII) for the 2024-2027 period. They asked not to come from elements of politicians but from professionals.

"As a candidate for General Chair of PB PMII, we firmly reject the nomination process for the leadership of the BPK from the political element," said Deputy Secretary General of PB PMII for Political, Legal and Human Rights Hasnu Ibrahim in his statement, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 13.

According to Hasnu, BPK is basically an institution that is mandated by the constitution to examine state finances. Thus, this institution should not be injured by practical political interests.

Hasnu assessed that the entrance to the damage to the BPK system and institutions depends on the face of the leadership and the commissioners, therefore the ongoing selection process must really be from professionals who have a good track record and achievement record in the eyes of the public.

"The professional circles must also have a good track record and achievements," he said.

Hasnu, who is also the Candidate for the Chairman of PB PMII, continued that his party was very strict in rejecting the selection process for candidates for BPK members for the 2024-2029 period which will be rolled out in the DPR if it comes from elements of political parties, because this has visited conflicts of interest and systemic corruption.

Hasnu hopes that the selection committee (pansel) who will process it is expected to be careful so that the selected candidates do not cause problems, noise and are free from the grand design of political parties.

"The public must be vigilant, because we smell a kind of bad smell, because there are political interests and interests of abuse of office, especially systemic corruption which is being designed in the selection process led by the BPK for the 2024-2029 period," said Hasnu.

There were several attitudes conveyed by PB PMII including the first, urging the Pansel and DPR RI to have the selection process for the leadership of the BPK for the 2024-2029 period free from conflicts of interest and elements of politicians or political party cadres.

Then secondly, urge the Pansel and DPR RI so that the selection process for the leadership of the BPK for the 2024-2029 period must pay attention to aspects of professionalism, integrity, and achievement.

The last one encourages public participation to closely monitor the recruitment process led by the BPK for the 2024-2029 period in order to produce quality, professional and integrity BPK leaders.
