JAKARTA - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg agreed to exchange information on North Korean weapons used in Russia's war in Ukraine.

Yoon met Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington, Thursday, July 11, amid growing concerns over the growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea following the signing of a recent comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, which includes a joint defense clause.

"Both parties agreed to share information about North Korean weapons used in the Ukraine conflict in response to the increasing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea," the South Korean Presidential Office said on Friday, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 13.

Yoon and Stoltenberg agreed that military cooperation between Russia and North Korea was a clear violation of various UN Security Council resolutions, and a serious threat to peace and stability in the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions.

Therefore, both of them promised to continue the relevant procedures for implementing this agreement.

South Korea accuses North Korea of providing artillery and weapons to Russia for Moscow's war in Ukraine, as it has closely monitored the possibility of Pyongyang getting military technology and others from Moscow in return.

Meanwhile, NATO has condemned alleged arms transactions between Pyongyang and Moscow for violating UN DK resolutions prohibiting countries from trading weapons or other military equipment with North Korea.
