Pelindo Ensures Unloading Activities At Merauke Harbor Run Despite Worker Demonstrations

The management of PT Pelindo Terminal Peti Kemas ensures that the strike does not affect the loading and unloading service activities of containers at Merauke Port.

"Services at Merauke Port are still running normally amid a strike by a number of transportation management service companies (JPT)," said PT Pelindo's Corporate Secretary at the Widyaswendra Container Terminal, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 11.

He said that during the strike, the port manager continued to serve loading and unloading activities. There are two activities, namely loading and unloading KM Tanto Sukses containers and loading and unloading of MT Mulia Karsa 2 liquid bulk.

According to him, services to service users will continue, marked by loading and unloading activities that continue to run well.

Responding to the strike at Merauke Harbor, his party respects this action as a form of openness in expressing opinions.

Furthermore, further coordination and communication will be carried out together with the Head of the Merauke Kesyahbandaran and Authority Office (KSOP).

" Interested parties at Merauke Harbor will sit together on Wednesday at 14:00 WIT facilitated by KSOP Merauke to find a good solution for all parties," he said.

Previously, it was reported that a number of transportation service companies (JPT) operating in Merauke ports had issued a joint stance statement to carry out a strike on July 10, 2024.

The statement was signed by companies that are members of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) and the Merauke branch of the Indonesian Unloading Companies Association (APBMI).
