KPU Cilacap Map Special TPS For The 2024 Pilkada For Inmates In Nusakambangan

The CILACAP-General Election Commission (KPU) of Cilacap Regency, Central Java, has mapped out a special polling station (TPS) that will be prepared to serve correctional inmates in all correctional institutions on Nusakambangan Island in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

"On Monday, July 8 yesterday, we held our third meeting with stakeholders, including prisons and leaders of Islamic boarding schools and universities," said KPU Chairman of Cilacap Regency, Weweng Maretno in Cilacap, quoted from ANTARA, Wednesday.

According to him, the meeting discussed the formation of a special location for each institution in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada which will be held on November 27.

In the meeting, he said, it was decided that the KPU of Cilacap Regency would wait for potential voters from each institution until Friday, July 17.

"From the plan, the potential lattice in prisons throughout Nusakambangan seems to point to 9 butts of special locations. Now there are only predictions, which allow only nine special location polling stations," he explained.

When compared to the implementation of the 2024 General Election, he said, the number of butts of special locations in Nusakambangan was reduced by 3 but from the previous 12 but special locations.

According to him, the estimated number of special locations in Nusakambangan is related to the minimum number of voters as many as 100 people.

"In prisons, actually, when referring to the number of voters, there are below 100 people, but in prisons throughout Nusakambangan there are exceptions," he said.

He admitted that initially in Nusakambangan there were planned 5 special locations but the prison objected, so at least 9 special location polling stations.

As for the Islamic boarding school, he estimates that there will be approximately 4 special locations, although the exact number has not been determined.

Nevertheless, he ensured that the number of special TPS in the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in Cilacap Regency was reduced from the special location in the 2024 General Election.

"Moreover, the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada is different from the 2024 General Election which is national and is followed by all Indonesian citizens who have the right to vote," he said.

In this regard, he said that his party would emphasize to the prison that the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in Cilacap Regency were only followed by correctional inmates who had identity cards (KTP) from districts/cities in the Central Java region.

Thus, he said, correctional inmates who have ID cards other than Cilacap Regency will only choose a candidate pair for governor and deputy governor.

Meanwhile, the correctional inmates who have KTP Cilacap Regency, he continued, will choose the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor as well as the candidate pair for regent and deputy regent.

"In addition to mapping the special taps, until now we are still updating voter data through bulk activities (matching and research)," he said.

Weweng said that based on the temporary recapitulation of e-coklits until Tuesday, July 9, the implementation of the coklit has reached around 82 percent of the Cilacap Regency Potential Voter Population List (DP4), which is 1,521,078 people.
