Indian Prime Minister Modi Talks To Putin's Death Of Innocent Children Hurts A Lot

Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin the death of innocent children was very painful, a day after the deadly attack on a child hospital in Kyiv Ukraine.

Indian leaders made the remarks on television at a meeting with Putin in the Kremlin.

Ukraine said it found fragments of Russian Kh-101 cruise missiles at the hospital, which were shot on Monday, July 8, in a wave of Russian attacks that killed 41 Ukrainians.

Russia says, without providing evidence, the hospital's attack was Ukraine's anti-missile system.

Modi told Putin the deaths of innocent children in war, conflict, or terrorist attacks were "very painful".

He also said the solution to the war in Ukraine "cannot be found on the battlefield... we must find peace through negotiations".

Putin, speaking in front of Modi, said the two countries enjoyed a special strategic partnership and were grateful for his efforts to find a peaceful solution to the war.

He welcomed Modi at the Kremlin for talks on deepening bilateral ties, a day after the United States said it had raised concerns about India about its relationship with Moscow.

"Our relationship has a very special strategic partnership character," Putin said.

"I am grateful for the attention you have given to the most acute issues including efforts to find ways to resolve the Ukraine crisis, especially in a peaceful manner, of course," he added.

India has become an increasingly important partner to Russia for sanctions as the country diverts its trade from Western countries and seeks to show Western efforts to isolate the country has failed.

India has refrained from criticizing Russia for the war and has stepped up purchases of cheap Russian oil to reach record highs, while urging Ukraine and Russia to resolve their conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
