GRESIK - Director General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, continues to promote the normalization of vehicles that are overloaded or Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL). This is because trucks carrying excess goods can make roads quickly damaged.

"In East Java, for example, there are several connecting roads between damaged and bumpy areas, one of the perpetrators is ODOL vehicles," said Director General of Hubdat Budi Setiyadi in a written statement, Wednesday, March 17.

He explained that damaged roads (due to ODOL trucks) also occurred in various regions, not only on national roads but also on provincial and district roads. So that on this occasion the Director General Budi requested supervision by the Head of the Transportation Service at the Provincial to Regency / City levels.

According to him, the role of the Kadishub will be increasingly visible as the accreditation of the Kir test in the regions begins. To strengthen efforts to eradicate ODOL, according to him, it must also be balanced through government actions so that there are no accident victims with a high fatality rate.

"The test is not only about regional income. Please convey it to the Regional Head and the DPRD. It must also ensure that there are safe vehicles. In addition, in handling ODOL, it is not only the role of the Government, but also the presence of the role of entrepreneurs. This is a joint work, so the participation of the car body, goods owners and entrepreneurs is also necessary, "he explained.

Director General Budi also asked related parties that the ODOL problem was a shared responsibility, so that it had to be eradicated by all parties.

"Don't let us realize too late that this can harm many parties, not only causing casualties but also for the state being harmed by the budget for repairing damaged roads caused by many vehicles violating ODOL," said Director General Budi.

The government is committed to making Indonesia free of Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) by 2023. To achieve this, various methods have been implemented, including policies for handling ODOL and implementing UPPKB, P21 enforcement against ODOL vehicles, Vehicle Normalization Policy, Law Enforcement at UPPKB and Cargo Transfer. a vehicle for which the operator will be charged a fee.

Furthermore, Director General Budi stated that all BPTDs in Indonesia have now rewarded ODOL violations under Article 277 of Law 22/2009, to cause a deterrent effect.
