Responding To The BPK Report, The DPR Encourages Strengthening Budget Absorption For People's Welfare

JAKARTA - The DPR RI Budget Agency appreciates the submission of the Government Result Report (LHP) of the Indonesian Financial Audit Agency (BPK) on the Central Government Financial Report (LKPP) for Fiscal Year 2023. With the results of Unqualified Opinions (WTP) received by the Government, Banggar DPR RI reminded that the absorption of the 2024 APBN and APBD should be carried out properly.

"We appreciate the BPK RI for carrying out the task of examining state finances by maintaining transparency and accountability in the management of state finances. To support this, we will also be committed to encouraging the strengthening of the absorption of the APBN and APBD in the future," said Member of the Banggar DPR RI, Charles Meikyansah, Tuesday 9 July.

According to Charles, monitoring the absorption of the state budget is important in order to maintain the stability of economic growth and the political situation considering that global economic conditions are currently full of challenges.

"We remind the Government to tighten supervision of the absorption of the APBD and APBN to ensure that every rupiah spent is useful for the benefit of the people and maintain investor confidence," said the legislator from the East Java IV electoral district.

Charles also explained that strengthening absorption supervision will be discussed in more detail in work meetings with the Government. Through its supervisory function, the DPR will see in more detail how the budget allocation for ministry/institutional programs and activities is realized according to plan.

"And of course the absorption of the budget must really be intended for the welfare of the people," said Charles.

According to him, the WTP opinion received by the Government is an achievement of hard work and important evidence that shows transparency and accountability in the management of state finances. For this reason, Charles encouraged the Government to continue to increase accountability in the governance of state money.

"This is clear evidence in a joint effort to maintain transparency and accountability in improving state financial management," Charles said.

Charles also highlighted the change of Government for the 2024 State Budget period, so it is hoped that the transition period of government will not have an impact on the state budget program.

"We hope that the transition period will be carried out well so that the community can still receive benefits from government policies and programs," he said.

Charles also emphasized the importance of maintaining economic and political stability in Indonesia to ensure sustainable economic growth and conducive political stability.

"This is to maintain investor confidence and ensure that national development can continue to run well," Charles said.

This report from BPK is also expected to increase public confidence in the management of state finances so that it can increase economic growth and create a more prosperous Indonesia.

"I hope this can increase public confidence, that all budgets that come out for the welfare of the people by providing many benefits," said Charles.

Charles added that the DPR through commissions and other board equipment (AKD) would make the LHP and LKPP from the BPK RI a reference in preparing work programs with the Government in the future.

"We ask the Government, both Ministries/Institutions, to follow the recommendations issued by the BPK RI so that transparent and accountable financial management is maintained," said the member of the DPR who also served in Commission XI.

Charles said it was a shared responsibility between the executive and the legislature in managing state finances. For this reason, he said that the DPR is ready to cooperate with the government to ensure that the absorption of the APBN and APBD supports the economic growth of the community.

"As representatives of the people, we have a responsibility to ensure that every state budget policy and management really takes sides with the interests of the people," Charles explained.

"We will continue to monitor and cooperate with the government to ensure that economic stability and community welfare are maintained," he continued.

Banggar DPR also hopes that the government will continue to improve transparency and accountability in the management of state finances. The DPR is said to fully support the Government's efforts in improving the state financial management system.

"Strict supervision and transparency in every stage of budget management are the keys to achieving equitable welfare for all Indonesian people," concluded Charles.
