Director General Of Hubdat Invites The Community To Eradicate ODOL Trucks

GRESIK - The Director General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, made a working visit to the East Java region and returned to normalizing Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) cargo vehicles.

"I am grateful for the collaboration of all parties. The government will be more than happy to handle this when logistics owners and entrepreneurs have the awareness to normalize their own vehicles," Budi said in his official statement, Wednesday, March 17.

According to him, community mobility will be greatly disrupted when many roads are damaged due to ODOL vehicles. For this reason, as a form of the government's seriousness in eradicating ODOL transportation, the ODOL Goods Vehicle Normalization process was carried out for 102 vehicle units which would be normalized with the type of vehicle: Tank, Dump Truck, and Open Cargo.

All of these vehicles are obtained from various companies and vehicle owners. "The role of Weigh Bridges in monitoring ODOL is increasingly felt and there are more problems due to ODOL," said Director General Budi.

He also emphasized the importance of the role of goods transportation entrepreneurs in eradicating ODOL vehicles as well as improving traffic safety. To strengthen efforts to eradicate ODOL, according to him, it must also be balanced through government actions so that there are no accident victims with a high fatality rate.

"From us (Ditjen Hubdat) take firm action through legal channels. We have handled this since 2018. What the Ministry of Transportation has done towards Zero ODOL is one of the aspects of regulation. "It is short cut, namely discretion with the Perdirjen so that trucks that are normalized will be able to carry out a tail test again," he added.
