BNPB Prepares Refugee Places For Earthquake Victims In Batang, Central Java

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has prepared temporary shelters for earthquake victims who rocked a number of villages in Batang Regency, Central Java. An earthquake measuring 4.4 magnitude occurred on Sunday afternoon at 14:35 WIB whose epicenter was on land with a depth of 6 kilometers at a distance of 5 kilometers northeast of Batang, Central Java. The earthquake had no potential for a tsunami. "Based on the results of a rapid assessment of the joint team in the field, it was found that at least eight families were affected by the shock of this earthquake," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, July 7. The earthquake damaged the houses of the eight families, with details of three heavily damaged houses, five lightly damaged houses and currently preparing refugee camps for those affected. In addition, BNPB through the Batang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) also handled at least four people who suffered injuries as a result of the collapse of the house building. The injured victims were Sri Mukartuna (37), Cati (78), Yunun Safarih (42), and Sapikin (65), residents of South Karangasem Village, Batang District and have been referred to the Kalisari Regional General Hospital, Batang.

Abdul ensured that until now joint BNPB officers, BPBD, Basarnas, TNI/Polri, Tagana, volunteers and others were still on standby at the scene and carrying out data collection related to the impact of damage to residents' homes and public facilities due to the earthquake. The latest data obtained by the BNPB Pusdalops has one place of worship that was slightly damaged, one school was moderately damaged and the earthquake also damaged the Batang Regent's office. However, there were no reports of casualties in the earthquake incident.
