Badai Beryl Terjang Beach Mexico, Sekolah Di Quintana Roo Diliburkan

JAKARTA - Hurricane Beryl hit Mexico sparking warnings following traces of its deadly destruction on several Caribbean islands.

The storm, which is expected to carry dangerous waves carrying winds up to 175 km per hour according to the US National Storm Center (NHC).

Beryl hit about 5 miles (10 km) east of Tulum, a popular resort in Mexico.

Hurricane conditions affected the Yucatan Peninsula, and hurricane warnings have been issued to beaches from Puerto Costa Maya to Cancun, including Cozumel.

Mexican civil protection agencies issued a red warning, signaling the maximum threat of danger. The agency has advised residents to stay in their homes or seek shelter in hurricane shelters.

Reported by Reuters on Friday, July 5, Mexican resident Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador also delivered this suggestion, and urged those on the storm track to seek protection.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing life above property in social media posts.

In Quintana Roo, Governor Mara Lezama uploaded a video downtown Tulum showing strong winds and rain having affected the region.

He urged citizens to take all necessary precautions because the impact of the storm is expected to be felt across states.

Schools in Quintana Roo were closed and Mexico's Ministry of Defense opened about 120 hurricane shelters in the area.

Before reaching Mexico, Badai Beryl brought disaster in the Caribbean. This disaster hit Jamaica, Grenada, St. Vincent, Grenadines, and northern Venezuela, claiming at least 11 lives, tearing down buildings and overthrowing trees.
