Jakarta MRT Tunnel Drilling Machine Joins Glodok And City Stations

JAKARTA - The construction process for MRT Jakarta phase 2A continues. Now, the tunnel drilling machine (TBM) 1 has connected Glodok Station and City Station.

Glodok Station and Kota are two stations built in phase 2A construction with the City HI Roundabout route.

"TBM 1 has succeeded in building a 244.5 meter long tunnel at a depth of 23.75 meters for about 105 days," said PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Corporate Secretary Division Head Ahmad Pratomo in his statement, Thursday, July 4.

Furthermore, the drill engine with a diameter of about 6.7 meters will build a tunnel construction with points starting from Kota Station to Glodok Station.

Glodok Station consists of two floors with a station length of about 240 meters, a width of 19.8 meters, and is at a depth of up to 18.45 meters.

Kota Station consists of three floors, with a station length of about 231.2 meters, a width of 17.3 meters, and at a depth of 23.75 meters. Both stations are targeted for completion in 2029.

Overall, the development of phase 2A construction has reached 37.55 as of June 25.

In detail, the construction of Thamrin and Monas Stations (CP201 contract packages) reached 78.50 percent. Then, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, and Mangga Besar Stations (CP202) 32.22 percent.

Then, the construction of Glodok Station and City (CP203) is 57.89 percent, the rail and rail system (CP205) is 4.52 percent. Meanwhile, the procurement of trains is being evaluated for tender documents and payment systems starting from call for tender.

"PT MRT Jakarta urges road users and public transportation to always pay attention to signs and follow instructions from construction officers around the construction area," explained Pratomo.

For information, Phase 2A MRT Jakarta will connect HI Roundabout Stations to cities along about 5.8 kilometers and consist of seven underground stations, namely Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kota.

Phase 2A is divided into two segments, namely segment one of the HI Roundabout Harmoni which is targeted for completion in 2027, and the two Harmoni's segment of the City which is targeted for completion in 2029.

The Jakarta MRT 2A phase was built at a cost of around Rp. 25.3 trillion through a cooperation loan fund between the Government of Indonesia and Japan.

Meanwhile, Phase 2B MRT Jakarta, which plans to continue from Kota to Depo Ancol Barat, is still in the feasibility study stage.
