BANDUNG - Pegi Setiawan's legal team believes that the panel of judges at the District Court (PN) of Bandung City, West Java (West Java) will grant the pretrial lawsuit filed by his party. The lawsuit is related to the status of the suspect, Pegi Setiawan, who was named by the West Java Police.

This belief was said by one of Pegi Setiawan's attorneys, Asep Muhidin, ahead of the pretrial hearing with the agenda of submitting the conclusion of both the applicant and the respondent to the judge at the Bandung District Court, Friday, July 5, 2024.

"This is clear two expert statements match each other, namely before determining that two pieces of evidence must be at least valid. Meanwhile, two pieces of evidence obtained by the West Java Regional Police were obtained, including after the determination of the suspect Pegi," he said.

Asep emphasized that Pegi Setiawan during 2016 to 2024 had never been properly invited by West Java Police investigators. Related to this, his party believes that the panel of judges will grant the lawsuit until finally Pegi Setiawan is released.

"From the two legal reasons, in our opinion, the panel of judges is very worthy to grant this pretrial application. That the determination of the suspect against Pegi Setiawan is legally flawed," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java Police Legal Team, Kombes Pol Nurhadi Handayani, said that the agenda for this trial was to convey the conclusion. He reiterated that his party rejected all the arguments presented by the Pegi Setiawan camp.

"In essence, we reject the arguments presented by the applicant, starting from the examination of witnesses to experts from their side to supporting us," he explained.
