Basarnas Saves 2 Foreigners From England Lost On Mount Agung

Bali Basarnas managed to save two foreign nationals (WNA) from England who had disappeared while climbing on Mount Agung, Karangasem.

Head of Basarnas Bali I Nyoman Sidakarya in a statement said the two men were found after the community and the joint SAR team heard screams for help.

"From the information from the public and the team we were digging, there was a scream for help, then at 18.15 WITA we headed to the location of the screams and the target was found to be in good health at an altitude of 1,700 Mdpl," said Nyoman Sidakarya, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 5.

Sidakarya said the British foreigners had the initials MF and MS, where since last Wednesday they had been climbing but other friends could not contact them by telephone.

The report finally entered Basarnas Bali from the British Consulate this afternoon, but there was no information about the starting point of the MF and MS as long as a motorbike was found parked near the hiking trail, precisely Pura Pasar Agung, Bebandem.

"From the discovery of a motorcycle, the police dug up information that the motorbike had a rental number and it was true that the foreigner we were looking for had the rental motorbike," he said.

Sidakarya then dispatched six personnel from the Karangasem SAR Post at around 16.20 WITA, and during the search, assisted by related SAR elements such as the Bebandem Police, the Bebandem sub-district apparatus and Jungutan Village, babinsa bhabinkamtimbas, local guides and local communities.

After being rescued, the British foreigner was assisted to go to the post to be given medical assistance and then directed to be evacuated to the police station.

Basarnas Bali ensured that MF and MS were found safe, although during the team search process it was quite difficult because of the night search with limited visibility and thick fog.
