PDIP Prepares Andika Perkasa For The Jakarta Or Central Java Gubernatorial Election

Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Puan Maharani said that her party had not yet determined whether to support the former TNI Commander General TNI (Ret.) Andika Perkasa to run in the Jakarta or Central Java gubernatorial election. Puan said Andika could advance anywhere.

"Andika is one of the candidates that we will consider to be nominated in which. This regional election has the uniqueness of each region, so it cannot only be one name for one region. So, everything depends on the region," said Puan at the Senayan parliament complex, Jakarta, Thursday 4 July.

Puan herself acknowledged that the discourse on the duet of former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Andika Perkasa in the Jakarta gubernatorial election was an interesting combination. "We haven't spoken directly at the DPP forum, but it seems ready," said Puan.

Puan said that her party was open to other options for the Jakarta gubernatorial election, including a coalition with the National Awakening Party (PKB). "It's possible, as long as it meets the existing quota. In terms of sufficient requirements and mechanisms. Politics is dynamic," he said.

So far, PDIP has not recommended a couple to be promoted in the 2024 Pilkada. Puan explained that her party had not held a meeting at the DPP level regarding the granting of a letter of assignment or a letter of recommendation for the 2024 Pilkada.

"Later, it's still two months away. Now all parties are definitely still surveying, looking at field conditions, and communicating with all parties. The dynamics is still going up and down. So, we all hope that after the election to the regional election everything can be done conducively," he explained.
