Even Though It's Been Raining For A Few Days, The Air Quality In Jakarta Is Still The Worst Friday Morning

JAKARTA - Even though it rained in Jakarta in a few days, the air quality in DKI Jakarta on Friday, July 5 morning was in the unhealthy category for sensitive groups, so they were advised to avoid outdoor activities.

Based on data from the IQAir air quality monitoring site at 06.30 WIB, quoted by ANTARA, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Jakarta is at 144, with a smooth particle number (particulate matter / PM) 2.5 at the concentration point of pollutants of 53 micrograms per cubic meter.

This concentration is equivalent to 10.6 times the annual air quality guide value of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Air Quality Index made Jakarta the city with the worst fifth air quality in the world.

Above Jakarta, the city of Medan occupies the city with the fourth-ranked worst air quality, making Indonesia have two of the top five cities with the worst air quality in the world.

As for the first place in the city with the worst air quality in the world, namely Kinshasa (Kongo) at 179. Then Lahore (Pakistan) was ranked second with index 172 and Beijing (China) with index 170 in third place.

A number of areas in Jakarta that are recorded as air quality are in the unhealthy category, namely West Cilandak, Kembangan and Jeruk Purut.

The community is also recommended to reduce outdoor activities. Sensitive groups should also wear masks when outdoors, close windows to avoid dirty outside air and turn on air filters.

The Environmental Information and Hygiene System of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency (DLH) also noted that the overall air quality in Jakarta for PM2.5 air pollution is in the moderate category with index 71.

Moderate categories mean air quality levels that have no effect on human or animal health, but affect sensitive plants and aesthetic value.

A number of areas monitored have moderate air quality, namely the HI Roundabout, Kelapa Gading and Lubang Buaya.
