BANDA ACEH - There were reports that police officers who had been declared missing during the 2004 Aceh tsunami were found in the Aceh Mental Hospital (RSJ).
Deputy Director of Services for RSJ Aceh Syarifah Yessi Hedianti said that his party could not yet conclude that the patient, who was often called by Zainal, was a member of the National Police who disappeared during the 2004 tsunami. Investigations are being carried out.
"We are conducting investigations first. Earlier there were friends from the police who were here to see, but whether it was the police who were victims of the tsunami, we cannot confirm yet", she said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 18.
Syarifah said that his party did not conclude about the patient's identity because the examination had not been carried out considering the patient's condition was unstable and anxious.
"Just wait for the results, we will do another evaluation, then we can do the tests. Is he a police officer who disappeared because of the tsunami, I have not been able to provide any information", she said.
The patient, who is suspected of being a police officer, has been taken to RSJ Aceh for a long time, namely since 2009. The hospital does not yet know the real name of the patient, because to this day no one from the family has visited him.
Apart from not having the family admit it, the patient was also taken by a village head from Sampoineit District, Aceh Jaya Regency in 2009, who is now deceased.
Therefore, Syarifah added, the Aceh RSJ plans to conduct an examination or identify the patient's deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).
"We will check whether the DNA identification matches, we are waiting for the patient to be stable first", said Syarifah Yessi Hedianti.
