Hasyim Asy'ari Fired For Immorality, DPR: Chairperson Of Institutions Should Maintain Attitude

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, admitted that he was concerned about hearing that KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari was fired from office by the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) because he was proven to have violated the code of ethics of the election organizers. Namely immoral acts and abuse of the position of power relations.

"Of course we are all concerned about getting the DKPP decision news," said Doli in a statement to reporters, Thursday, July 4.

"But according to the laws and regulations, the DKPP decision is final and binding," he continued.

Doli emphasized that all parties must respect the DKPP decision which was given the task of handling violations of the election organizers' code of ethics, namely the KPU and Bawaslu. Doli revealed that his party also often reminded the KPU chairman to maintain his attitude.

"Actually, specifically for the Chairman of the KPU, we have also provided input, in order to maintain a very important and strategic attitude as chairman of the institution," he said.

According to Doli, the DKPP decision must be used as a lesson for all parties, especially election organizers to maintain their behavior and words.

"I think that's what I can say, hopefully this can be a lesson for all of us because if we look at what the decision read by the DKPP," said Doli.

"Indeed, it has been confirmed from various parties, from the plaintiff and the defendant, then the witnesses," continued the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party.
