The Furniture Store In Bekasi Caught Fire, 5 People Died In The Bathroom

BEKASI - Warehouse and furniture shop on Tugu Street, Jatikramat Village, Jatiasih District, Bekasi City, West Java, sold out on fire, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 morning. This incident killed five people.

Bekasi City Fire and Rescue Head, Namar Naris, said the five victims were found in the bathroom. They consist of adult men and women, then three children.

"These five people gathered in the bathroom and maybe because of the much smoke conditions, they could no longer be helped," said Namar in his statement, Wednesday, July 3.

Namar added, for the blackout process as many as 14 fire departments were deployed to the scene. The fire was extinguished at 11.06 WIB. The fire department coordinated with BPBD and the Bekasi City Metro Police to evacuate victims.

"(The cooling process) is almost two or three hours. We have evacuated together with the BPBD team and then the Bekasi City rescue team and the Bekasi City Metro Police Biddokes," he added.

The cause of the fire is currently still under further investigation. It is suspected that the fire started with an electrical short circuit.
