Attorney General's Office Of Riau Islands Receives Rp. 8 Billion In Refunds, Corruption Case For PT Gunung Sion Mining Permits

TANJUNGPINANG - The Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) received a refund of around Rp. 8 billion from the state in a corruption case involving irregularities in the mining business permit for production operations in 2018-2019.

The head of the Kepri Attorney General's Office, Hari Setiyono, said that the state's loss was returned by witness Ferdi Yohanes amounting to Rp7.5 billion.

This is because during the trial process, it was found that there was a flow of funds to the witness as the owner of the mining land, PT Gunung Sion.

Defendant Junaidi also repaid state losses amounting to Rp. 165 million and defendant Bobby Satya Kifana, amounting to Rp. 279 million.

"So that the total state money that we managed to save in this case amounted to Rp. 8 billion," said Hari Setiyono during a press conference at his office, Senggarang, Tanjungpinang, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 17.

Hari stated that the Rp8 billion in cash was subsequently confiscated as evidence in the interest of developing further investigations.

The confiscation of this evidence, he said, had already obtained permission from the Head of the Corruption Court at the Tanjung Pinang District Court and the Chief Justice.

Furthermore, he explained that the corruption case against the production operation mining permit irregularities charged 12 defendants with a total state loss of Rp31 billion.
