JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has arrested eight perpetrators of theft of TransJakarta bus spare parts. The theft was carried out when the bus was parked in the Pulogadung area, East Jakarta.

"The target of the theft case with this weight is TransJakarta Bus vehicles in Pulogadung. The parking lot there, which is done by quite a number of suspects, up to now there are eight suspects out of the five existing police reports, ”said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 17.

The eight suspects are Z (29), AHS (31), FR (35), US (31), EBH (28), K (35), HF (35), and H (35).

The roles of suspects Z, AHS, FR, AS, EBH and K were to unload and steal bus spare parts, while suspects HF and H acted as collectors of stolen goods.

During the arrest, the police also confiscated a number of evidence, such as stolen spare parts, bus seats, metal components of various types and vehicle keys.

"There are quite a lot of 'spare parts' belonging to the TransJakarta buses, even up to the seats, the iron and keys which were taken by the suspects," he added.

The location of the theft was Pulogadung Terminal, to be precise the shelter for TransJakarta buses that were not used or were being damaged.

The buses became easy targets for the suspects because the bus shelter was not guarded by security at all.

Polda Metro Jaya also coordinated with TransJakarta to prevent a recurrence of this incident.

"We have coordinated with PT TransJakarta and also the local government because there is one facility in the workshop, there is a door that is not guarded at all by officers, making it easier for these actors to carry out their actions," he said.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with the threat of seven years in prison and or Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning detention with the threat of four years in prison.
