US Supply 10,000 Bombs And Missiles For Israel Since Gaza Conflict

The United States has shipped more than 10,000 bombs and missiles to Israel since military operations began in Gaza last October, the Reuters news agency said citing two US officials.

The news said the shipments included at least 14,000 MK-84 which weighed 2,000 pounds (925 kg) and 6,500 MK-82 bombs weighing 500 pounds (230 kg), respectively.

The shipment also includes 3,000 precision-guided air-to-ground missiles Hellfire, 1,000 bunker-destroying bombs, and 2,600 small diameter bombs dropped from the air.

The US has yet to make any significant changes that will limit the level of US military support for Israel, the report said. The Pentagon, aka US Department of Defense headquarters, has not responded to Sputnik's request for comment on the matter.

Earlier on Wednesday (26/6), a US official told reporters that the superpower government had sent weapons to Israel worth US$6.5 billion (Rp106.27 trillion).

The Biden administration currently only detained a group of 2,000-pound bomb shipments, which Israel has requested. The US is reportedly currently reviewing the request amid concerns that Israel will use it in a densely populated area of Rafah.

However, according to the report, the US is expected to immediately lift the delay in the delivery of the 500-pound bomb that has also been detained. Israel will reportedly need the bombs in the event of a deeper conflict with Hezbollah on its northern border with Lebanon.
