JAKARTA - Xiaomi finally announced that the name Sky Nomad is the latest series from the company, not a new sub-brand that had been rumored by social media.

CNevpost, Thursday, July 9, Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun revealed in a post on Weibo that the SU7 and YU7 series are "driver cars", while the Sky Nomad series is "smart and transformable large space SUVs".

"This is Sky Nomad (Xiaomi Pengcheng), a new series of Xiaomi EV," Xiaomi EV wrote on its official Weibo account.

"These are two different answers that Xiaomi has delivered to different user needs over the past five years of car making," he added.

Xiaomi also showed the side profile of the SUV for the first time in its official teaser poster. Interestingly, unlike the SU7 and YU7 which are famous for their bold touches, this SUV comes with a box shape and a brand new front end design.

Lei said the line was honed over three and a half years, with the aim of creating "living space." Interior spaces should not be fixed, but should change freely according to user needs.

"When parked, the SUV can be transformed into a "studio for one person, a cafe for two people, a reception room for three people, or a playground for the whole family," said Lei.

As is known, to achieve this, Xiaomi began building a completely new platform architecture from the ground up in early 2023 or the Xiaomi Kunlun architecture.

In SUV form, the vehicle's completely flat floor and long rail design give it the ability to intelligently swap out its interior space.

Will this new series follow in the footsteps of the previous model's success? of course it's worth waiting for the specific details.
